Located 26 miles northwest of downtown Los Angeles, Pacoima is one of the oldest neighborhoods in the northern San Fernando Valley. The David M. Gonzales Recreation Center
Pacoima is home to several excellent parks. The David M. Gonzales Recreation Center is named for a World War II soldier from the area. It offers an outdoor gym with weights, a lighted baseball diamond, picnic tables, basketball and handball courts, and a playground area. Ritchie Valens Park
Ritchie Valens Park is located near the north end of Pacoima at 10736 Laurel Canyon Blvd. The park includes indoor basketball courts, a community room, handball courts, a kitchen, a jogging path, a stage, a skate plaza, and lighted tennis courts. You will also find an outdoor swimming pool and children’s play area.
The Hubert H. Humphrey Memorial Park
Also located near the northern end of Pacoima is the Hubert H. Humphrey Memorial Park. It has one of the few heated outdoor swimming pools in the area. Besides all the usual park amenities, this park also includes a special center just for teens that contains a stage and a kitchen.
